Nautica South Beach Triathlon raises $137,500 for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital!

Celebrities, athletes and local competitors help raise $137,500 for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital

WHO: 1,700 famous faces and determined athletes converged on the sands of Miami Beach and competed in the Second Annual Nautica South Beach Triathlon, raising $137,500 for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Participants traveled in from 11 different countries and 40 states to compete this year.

Competitors included Anna Kournikova who ran in a relay team with Leanda Cave (swimming) and Jenny Fletcher (biking), “The Bachelor’s” Andy Baldwin, “Shark’s” Sam Page, “Dancing with the Star’s” Cristian de la Fuente, Six-time Ironman Champion Dave Scott and Sarah Burke (US Open and Winter X Games gold medal skier). In addition 3 stars from NBC’s “The Biggest Loser” competed as “The Biggest Loser All Stars” in the Celebrity Division with each completing one leg of the race – including Season 6 winner Michelle Aguilar (run time 1:51:26), Season 4 contestant Jerry Lisenby (bike time 1:09:29), and Season 5 winner Ali Vincent (swim time 0:17:12) .

First Place Winner, Ben Collins, who came in 2nd place last year, left everyone in the dust with his finishing time of 1 hour, 19 minutes and 15 seconds. The Overall Men’s second and third place winners were Guto Antunes from Brazil (1:20:46) and Carlos Dolabella from Key Biscayne (1:26:51). In the Overall Women’s Division, Brooke Davison from Boulder, CO came in first place with a time of 1 hour 28 minutes and 13 seconds. Close behind Davison were Fernanda Keller from Brazil (1:35:23) and Mireille Rodrique from Belarus (1:37:24). Andy Baldwin came in first place in the Celebrity Division with a time of 1 hour 34 minutes and 29 seconds.

“Destiny’s Child” singer Michelle Williams kicked off the festivities by singing the National Anthem.

WHAT: Participants gathered on South Beach before dawn and ran into the Atlantic for an invigorating half-mile ocean swim, then biked 19 miles over Miami Beach’s causeways with scenic views of the Intracoastal Waterway, downtown Miami and Miami Beach, and concluded with a four mile run alongside Miami Beach’s Art Deco District with a grand finish on the white sands of South Beach.
